Declamatory Contest 1912

The Bellefonte Academy held an annual declamatory contest with prizes offered by W. S. Furst, a Philadelphia lawyer.

In 1912 the contest was held on March 22nd, at the Academy.  Judges were Dr. George E. Hawes, George R. Meek and James C. Furst, Esq.  The participants and the subjects of their speeches were:

Gustave Chartner, of Pittsburgh;
